Thesis Information Updates

Committee Group

The committee group is mostly the same. I kept a majority of them on still, since a large part of my committee were language experts. Keeping the language experts one will still help, so I can have a better understanding of how things act and direct contacts for questions.

 I have also added one expert, which is Kelsey Elder, who works for the Rhode Island School of Design. I brought Kelsey in to help has a typography expert. He teaches courses and is knowledgable on type design. So, with me entering the production phase he will be a great help.

Calendar

The change is pushing the information from January onwards up by a month, this won't affect the planning much since the final month of work was mainly planned to be filler work and refinement work.

Font Progress - 2/14/20

I am currently expanding the roster of letters within the font, while exploring multiple variations on varying letters. The O is the least settled upon look so far. I have two running choices for what I think most successfully complete the system I am creating. Over the course of the next week, I am aiming to explore more rounded shapes to build a diversity of looks in the current system. Font Look - Update

Reverse Contrast After reviewing my preliminary design, I went back to get a more concrete look for the font design. I decided on a reverse contrast slab serif look. Some research on a similar look and feels from other typefaces are below. Thoughts on Thesis

1. At this moment, what aspect(s) of your thesis are you most  excited  about, and why?  The research phase is what I am most excited about with my thesis. It is in large part the backbone of the entirety of my thesis and it is a topic I find interesting. 2. At this moment, what aspect(s) of your thesis are you most  concerned  about, and why?  I am most concerned about the reasoning for the choices I am making. I have not really worked out why I want to do things the way I do which, is why this is my biggest concern. 3. What can you do to alleviate your concerns, your answers to question 2 above, and how will that help you? To alleviate my concerns I can do more superficial research in a broad scope of language rather than looking specifically at Scandinavian, but looking at Phoenician, Asian languages and African languages to give me a better basis of why I am choosing Scandinavian as the basis of my system. 4.
